Creamy Avocado Spread

This spread can be added to various meals. Use for sandwiches, pizza, toast, appetizers, and even add to entrée meals.

I actually prefer this to guacamole, and it is simple to do.

All You will need is:

  • Avocados
  • Limes or lemons
  • Salt and pepper

You can add any favorite spice or herb to make it your own. Examples: curry powder, garlic, turmeric, cumin, chili pepper, chives, cilantro.

I usually see how many ripe avocados I have on hand.

  • Cut the avocado lengthwise, cut down to the seed, and slice around the pit.
  • Gently twist the avocado; the halves will come apart.
  • To remove the pit, use a spoon to dig it out. If the avocado is ripe, it should easily pop out.
  • Scoop the flesh into a bowl.
  • Use a fork or spoon to mash the avocado.
  • Add half a lemon or lime juice at first, stir, taste. Add more if you need to.
  • Add salt and pepper, stir, taste. Start with a pinch of each and slowly add more to your liking.
  • Not mandatory but you can add any herb or spice of your choice. I find it’s best not to overdo it so as not to overpower the avocado.

I usually taste 4 or 5 times to get the correct seasoning.

*Tips

People's tastes are different, so it’s important you constantly taste.

To preserve the spread a little longer, use cellophane or parchment paper to cover the spread even though the container has a lid. There should be no space/air between the lid and spread. This will keep the spread from browning quickly.
